There are many different antibiotics available that act on the various bacteria that can infect the lung. Each antibiotic utilizes a different mechanism of action to eradicate the organism.

As shown in the slide, many of the mechanisms of antimicrobial action are specific to the physiology of bacterial cells. For the utilization of a specific antibiotic, you are referred to the infectious diseases section.
