Nervous system Neuron anatomy
Dendrites receive information from other neurons. The cell body regulates this information and decides whether the signal is further transported. The cell also produces proteins and neurotransmitters.
The axon transduces the electrical signal along its membrane towards the synapse. At the synaptic end, the action potential is transformed into a biochemical signal: vesicles containing neurotransmitters are released in the synaptic cleft. The neurotransmitters bring the signal over to the postsynaptic cell.
Which of the following is NOT true?
Extra info: The dendrites and the cell body receive input from synapses. The axon's main responsibility is the transduction of the action potential.
